Blather Consulting’s Dave Walsh is a seasoned, multi-disciplined media officer, comfortable liasing with international media outlets. He’s used to hitting the ground running in intense, remote environments, to ensure that quality information reaches key media worldwide. In addition, Blather Consulting maintains a wide international contact network of media producers – photographers, filmmakers and logistics personnel who work in extreme environments.

Between 2007 to 2009, Dave was Greenpeace’s international press officer dealing with whaling issues, working on board expeditions to Antarctica, attending International Whaling Commission Meetings in Chile and Alaska, and from the Greenpeace office in Japan to raising media awareness of scandals with the whaling industry. More recently, he was the on one of Greenpeace’s longest expeditions, this time to the Arctic:

Three-month expedition to the high arctic, working with scientists to study the effects of climate change on Greenland’s ice cap and the Arctic Sea Ice, in the lead-up to the December 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit.

Role: Coordinating all media issues on board icebreaker Arctic Sunrise from Greenland and the Arctic, via satellite systems; handling media inquiries, writing of press releases and web stories, management of media team, producer of text and video output, briefing visiting media (CNN, AP, Guardian, Economist, India Today, Al Jazeera, Liberation, TF1 and others), and overseeing live broadcasts from to 20 Australian cinemas simultaneously.
